In addition to Orbit's Audio Management System (AMS) for the inbound, outbound and intercom airborne platform crew communication, Orbit is also introducing it's solution for the mobile team members - The Wireless Extension.

The tasks performed by the air and ground team members require mobility on board and around the aircraft in order to control cabin operation and aircraft maintenance. So far these tasks were limited by the need to remain connected to the aircrafts intercommunication system and thus limited to the length of the communication cable attached to the aircraft. This wired connection presented safety issues related to the dynamic operation of the crew members tripping over the cable or accidentally disconnecting it. Acknowledging this problem, Orbit has recently introduced The Wireless Extension as the solution.

The Wireless Extension enables the ground mobile user to move freely, around the aircraft, up to 150 meters maintaining full communication with the aircraft crew as well as with other ground mobile users. In addition, the system enables the mobile user to communicate through the aircraft radios.
