The 3D Audio interface realizes an algorithm for receiving audio in 3 dimensions.
3D-AMS is a multi-matrix configuration enabling the pilot to obtain on-line important information regarding the external environment. The 3D audio enables a pilot to locate the origin of a sound, vertically and horizontally. In addition, 3D audio technology can determine how the sound source moves in relation to the pilot and his aircraft. This 3D technology allows the pilot to hear directionally. As an example, if a threat were coming from behind and below, a warning tone would be generated that the pilot would discern accordingly. As the threat moved, or the pilot changes position, the 3D audio would provide an audio tone corresponding to the new position.
Providing accurate information regarding the location and the direction of the audio sources, 3D-AMS allows the pilot to focus his full attention on the mission and complete it successfully.
